Maybe it’s just me… but that lion on the Governor General’s crest looks a little Rasta. Standing proud, mane flowing, holding a maple leaf like it knows the rhythm of the place. Official heraldry might call it a symbol of the Crown, but squint a little and you might see something else — a lion with a touch of roots, rock, and reggae.

Canada’s a funny mix that way. Snow and sound systems. Maple leaves and basslines. Maybe there’s always been a little bit ah Rasta in Canadians.
